There’s a few different ways. The most reliable is looking at the actual catalogs. My memory can usually come close.

It also depends on the poster. @thiefgear is a GAT collector and has extensive knowledge of the brand. Some people also have access to the brand founders/owners/designers.

In this case, I first found an image in “Street Beat Magazine” from 1992 with an image of someone in these. I then authenticated with the creator of GAT. But more than often I search for catalogs and or take an educated guess based on tags and logos. In the 90’s, GAT used only a few tags for their jeans. Two differing “barcode” tags like these. Then their logo from the buttons in the colors blue and orange, aswell as a red ” GAT Los Angeles” tag.
