Think / Think Skateboards

Founded: 1990
Founder: Keith Cochrane, Greg S. Carroll and Don “Fish” Fisher
Location: San Francisco, CA
It was 1989 when Keith Cochrane had the idea to start Think Skateboards. Keith was already a pro skate at the time, but wanted to start his own company. He approached Greg Carroll with the idea and Think became a partnership between the two.
They started with a team of local amateurs and pitched them the name of the company, Move. Yep, Think was originally going to be called Move Skateboards. Luckily, everyone on the team hated the name and one of the riders, Nick Lockman, who was only 8 years old at the time, said, How about Think? Everyone loved Think and the rest is history.
In their early years, Think was closely associated with Dogtown Skateboards and actually got a lot of help from them to get the company up and running.
Think lasted for 25 years, which is an eternity in the skateboarding world. Not many skate companies, with the exception of the heavy hitters, last more than 10 years, let alone 25. Think closed up shop in 2014.
While Think was strictly a skateboarding company, their tees with the instantly recognizable logos became a part of streetwear and even bled into pop culture with celebs like Robin Williams, Beastie Boys and Eminem reppping it and pieces being shown in movies and TV shows in the 00s.
