Although the history of the brand dates as far back as the 1960s, the company was officially founded by Jim Jenks in 1972. Quickly after launch, Ocean Pacific was the dominant brand choice of California surfers.  By the 1980s, the brand’s popularity had grown from coast to coast in the US, including the Midwest and even internationally.  The brand that once represented West Coast surf counter-culture eventually turned into a world-wide sensation and become part of 1980s pop culture.
