Liquid Sky Design was founded in Sao Paulo Brazil by Claudia Rey and Carlos “DJ Soul Slinger” Slinger. It was originally a cosmetics brand. After delving into the club scene in the mid 80s in Brazil, they moved their headquarters to New York in 1989, opening a retail shop in SOHO. It wasn’t long before their Astro Girl logo on tee shirts turned into a full streetwear line, with the primary focus on club and rave attire. LSD has always focused on themes of the future, aliens, and forward thinking, while incorporating important social concerns like sustainability and responsibility into their marketing and ethos.

From their own marketing materials, they describe Claudia, the force behind the fashion designs as the “maker (not fashion) chief, who pioneered the trend that led to today’s popular and already established category, the street wear. Rey is an anti-fashionista, always observing current trends to discover new ones. Her design philosophy heavily weights on the concept of sustainability, clothing as utility, hence comfort, fit, and durability being the top parameters, and the creative application and layering of accessories to change the look and feel of the ‘self’.”
