JIMMY'Z
Founded: 1984
Founder: Jim Ganzer
Location: Malibu, California
JIMMY’Z was the brainchild of Jim Ganzer, a surfer from California who started the company from a garage in Malibu, in 1984. There were never as big as heavy hitters, like Ocean Pacific or Maui and Sons, but they were an innovative company that contributed heavily to the history of surf, skate and streetwear culture.
The company grew quickly and were only around for about 4-5 years, before Ocean Pacific bought them out, keeping the brand name and helping them grow the brand with their existing production and distribution capabilities.
JIMMY’Z is probably most well known for their infamous use of velcro closures on their pants, shorts and hats, their iconic Woodie logo and sponsoring Christian Hosoi.
