Blind was the first skate company own by Mark Gonzales (the greatest skater of all time, IMO). He hit up Steve Rocco in 1989 about starting his own thing and wanting to leave Vision, which was the largest skateboard company in the world at the time, but was probably too mainstream for the Gonz. Gonz, Rocco and Jason Lee (who was previously riding for Rocco’s company World Industries and arguably the best skater in the world at the time) got together and started the brand. It was named Blind as a direct F you to Vision (in true Rocco style), because they wanted Blind to be everything that Vision wasn’t.
